Roland MV 8800 / MV 8000 Loading Instructions

Import MPC Sounds to the Roland MV 8800 & MV 8000

1.) Importing Akai MPC2000/XL sample data
Here’s how you can import Akai MPC2000 (XL) sample data and save it as MV-8000 / MV 8800 sample data. You can use this data to create audio phrases or construct patches.

Make sure to import the .pgm files and not the samples. The pgm files will autoload all the sounds to each pad in the pad banks.

1. Press The IMPORT MENU screen will appear.
2. Select the type of import. The IMPORT screen will appear.
The procedure here is the same as in the FILE UTILITY screen
3. Move the cursor to the music data file you want to import.
4. Press (Execute). The imported data will be converted to an MV-8000 sample. If you selected [F1 (Audio Phrase)] or [F2 (Patch)] in step 2, the QUICK ASSIGN (AUDIO PHRASE) screen or QUICK ASSIGN (PATCH) screen will appear.
The rest of the procedure is the same as when assigning a sample after sampling. Assign the sample to a pad as described in steps 10 and following of Using a sampled sound as an audio phrase or patch

2.) Importing Akai MPC2000/XL series patch data
Here’s how you can import MPC series patch data to recreate the same patch structure on the MV-8000 / MV 8800. This lets you create a patch without having to assign samples to pads.

1. Press The IMPORT MENU screen will appear.
2. Press (Patch). The IMPORT screen will appear. The procedure here is the same as in the FILE UTILITY screen Managing files (File Utility)
3. Move the cursor to the PATCH folder and then press (right). Displays the contents of the PATCH folder.
4. Move the cursor to the MPC series patch data that you want to import.
5. Press (Execute). The ASSIGN TO PART / LIBRARY popup will appear.
6. Set the parameters. Use the To parameter to specify whether the imported data will be saved as a Patch or as Library data.
7. Press (Set). The patch or library data will be created.
